FC Pinzgau Saalfelden aim to continue winning run
Preview: 2021/22 Salzburg Regional League,
Round 16, SV Seekirchen vs. FC Pinzgau Saalfelden,
Saturday 23 October 2021, 17:00 CET, Sportzentrum Aug
FC Pinzgau Saalfelden are now unbeaten in the Salzburg Regional League since the end of August and have put together a run of victories in recent rounds, comfortably winning four consecutive league games by a combined goal difference of 14-1. With three matches remaining, Tandari & Co. are back in the hunt and are quietly knocking on the door of the top two – but they will need one of the clubs above them to slip up if they are to sneak in.
One of our players is set to reach an important landmark against SV Seekirchen this weekend. Christopher Fürstaller, who has hit an impressive run of form in recent weeks and now has four goals for the season, is on the verge of his 100th appearance for the Ziege Crew.
Christian Ziege is still without the long-term injury absentee Denis Kahrimanovic (cruciate ligament). Jonas Schwaighofer is on the road to recovery, though it is unclear whether he will be ready to face SV Seekirchen and a decision will be made close to kick-off.
Christian Ziege: “We‘ve gone about our business very well in recent weeks. I’m delighted that our team have been rewarded for their efforts and have picked up a decent number of points in our recent matches. We have now moved ourselves back within touching distance; that was our explicit goal and gives us great self-belief. We will attack the final three rounds in the same highly focused manner and will concentrate on the tasks at hand. We have already been written off and so we have nothing to lose in the run-in. The pressure is not on us. Everyone knows it’s not always easy when you have a narrow lead you need to see over the line.”
Niklas Mühlbacher: “We’ll head to Seekirchen full of confidence. We of course want to continue our run and are currently in the hunt. Unfortunately, we made life difficult for ourselves with too many draws at the beginning of the season and so dropped some points carelessly. In the final three rounds, we want to build on our performances from the last matches. Perhaps we can still cause some headaches for the top two and create some excitement.”
